Emergency Childcare Service
WSH BME Network provides emergency childcare cover for people especially when they do not have family close by and their local authorities are unable to, temporarily, meet their needs. We send our volunteers to support the family in an otherwise stressful situation.
Our support starts with a minimum of 3 hours a day, depending on the needs of the family. This provision ensures that the person can concentrate on getting better, knowing that their children are being looked after.
All our carers are volunteers who understand and passionately believe in the objectives of the service. Before they are employed by the initiative, they go through a rigorous recruitment selection and induction process and are expected to understand the reason the service exists to serve the needs of the community that uses its facilities.
The wards under our care are nurtured just like their parents would. We engage them in different activities, outings, pickup/drop off in school, homework tutoring, games, library and places of interest visits, etc. In the future, we plan to organise day or weekend trips to interesting places around the UK. We will also plan to give carers some respite by taking children with kidney and/or transplant long-term health conditions on trips as well.
